Dental Braces Coppell, TX

Braces are one of the main cosmetic procedures available today. While it has other indications such as correction of jaw relation to avoid jaw problems, braces are mainly done to give you a better smile. The orthodontist uses brackets, wires and elastics to apply force to the teeth in order to move them or tip them, all to achieve perfect alignment.

What are the types of braces available?

There are 4 types of braces available in the market nowadays:
Clear Braces Coppell

  • Traditional braces: The good old metallic braces, and metallic wires with the brightly colored elastics is the most common used type, and is considered the gold standard in orthodontic treatment.
  • Clear braces: The same concept as traditional braces, meaning brackets wires and elastics, except the braces are made of clear ceramic which is virtually transparent, instead of metal. The wire is also coated with a white material, and the elastics used are clear as well, so very little shows.
  • Lingual Braces: A new development in the science of orthodontics , where the brackets are placed on the inner surface of the teeth opposite the tongue instead of on the outside, making the appearance far superior.
  • INVISALIGN: One of the most recent trends, and specifically made for adults. Instead of the brackets and wires, INVISALIGN is made from a series of clear molds called aligners, that apply pressure in a special way to move the teeth and can be removed at will.

How do Braces work?

When the brackets are attached to teeth, and the wire and elastics are adapted on them, the force of the elastic wire is transferred along the length of the tooth and into the bone. This causes changes in the bone, where bone is removed in some areas and deposited in others, and the tooth "drifts" from one place to another as required. After the treatment is done, the braces are removed and a retainer is made to keep the teeth in the final position without relapse.

What is the difference between Metal and Clear Braces Coppell and which is better?

There is no difference in action between traditional or metal and clear braces. Both have brackets, wires and elastics, so they move the teeth in the same manner. The main difference is the appearance, where modern society standards are not as they used to be, and metallic braces that were once considered cool, is now unacceptable to most people, and that is where clear braces shine. Clear braces are also a bit more costly than traditional braces, more liable to break as ceramic is weaker than metal, and causes food to compile much faster than metallic braces.

As to which is better, the choice is entirely yours. You should expect the same outcome and the same period for treatment, the only difference is the appearance.

Lingual Braces and INVISALIGN Coppell  sound great from an esthetic point of view, why not choose these?

While INVISALIGN technology is incredible, saving a lot of embarrassment and highly increasing comfort, it is not without drawbacks. The treatment period is longer than traditional and clear braces, and they cannot be used to treat every situation. Cases like differences in the size of the jaws cannot be treated with INVISALIGN.

As for lingual braces, they are more versatile than INVISALIGN in the sense that they can be used in treatment of all cases, and their appearance is obviously better than traditional and even clear braces, but they are extremely uncomfortable, and they are still quite new and experimental.

Traditional and clear braces are the jokers. They can be used for virtually anyone and any case at any time, and the results are incredibly reliable.
